>> Friday, August 22, 2008

Manchester City summer signing notched a brace for his national side as Brazil defeated Belgium to capture the men's Bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics. He appears likely to compete in City's third fixture of the season. The former CSKA Moscow striker could be back for the UEFA Cup match against FC Midtjylland next Thursday.

City also officially added Vincent Kompany via Hamburg SV. The 22-year-old Belgian defender will add depth to Mark Hughes' back line and could see action starting at right back. He signed a four-year contract with the club. He could also see action in the defensive midfield.

City square off against West Ham United on Sunday.
