After eight matches, FC Rubin Kazan still remain first in the Russian Premier League standings. By winning their first seven matches, the club set a Russian Premier League record. No club had ever achieved the mark of seven straight to begin a campaign.
In their eight match, Rubin Kazan finally were defeated by visiting side Spartak Moscow 3-0.
With their next three against Spartak Nalchik (2-1-5), FC Moscow (1-4-3), and a home match on May 15 against FC Shinnik Yaroslavl (2-2-4), Rubin Kazan appear destined to remain at the top of the table.
